Macedonia is a land of the dance, the song, the music. It is a country in which people express their happiness and sadness through music and dance with centuries. As a historical crossroad with many roads passing through and crossing by, Macedonia is a place where they, the cultures, which lead those roads, are interlacing. We have put our place in the area of dance on the map of worldwide cultural events through the festival Dance Fest Skopje in the past four years, as a recognizable mark on the Macedonian modern dance stage.

The festival has been formed in the year of 2005, as a continuance of the activities of the artistic director Risima Risimkin, in the area and development of modern dance in Macedonia . From its beginnings, Dance Fest Skopje has a task to present contemporary productions of National ballets and other prestige companies from the region, Europe and the world.
The basic idea is:

• to follow the tendencies of developments of modern dance worldwide
• to exchange experiences with artists from other cultural places
• to place the Macedonian contemporary dance stage beyond our borders
• to develop new, young audience
• to educate the audience
• to involve the audience in the process of development of contemporary dance to include the Macedonian dance stage in European projects
